ParaEducator Courses & Exam
ParaEducator is an online platform for paraprofessionals, featuring over 100 work-related courses and assessments. This test is conducted as two assessments in the initial appointment.
Paraprofessionals in Minnesota must earn 65% on the first assessment and 70% on the second assessment to earn the "highly qualified" designation.
Exam Scheduling

Appointments are available morning and afternoon, Tuesday-Friday, at BrightWorks.

A computer is provided.
- Test-takers receive their score immediately after taking the exam.
- Re-testing is available immediately, subject to appointment availability.
Cost
- $85 - Highly qualified courses & assessments
- $65 - PD courses only, no assessment
- $20 - Each additional assessment re-take
Preparation
We strongly recommend that paraprofessionals complete the assigned preparation courses before taking the assessments.
The Title I courses are in these areas: Mathematics Skills, Reading Skills, Supporting Instruction, and Writing Skills. It is estimated that the courses take 8-12 hours to complete.
Once registered, you will be sent information allowing you to access ParaEducator online courses (one registration per paraprofessional is required).

140 self-paced courses covering general education and special education environments.

Courses that are organized into bite-sized units and are perfect for training days.
- Post-tests at the end of each course that are automatically graded.
- Training and assessments to highly qualify your paras and meet Title I requirements.
- Transcripts and course certificates that paraeducators can access to document their training.
- Content that aligns with CEC standards for paraeducators and is endorsed by CASE.

Please note
Registration for courses must be paid in advance. One registration per paraprofessional is required.
Payment is accepted by cash, money order, or check made payable to "BrightWorks."
An appointment for assessment must be scheduled in advance. Payments for retakes are due the day of the testing.
