ParaPathways Exam

Built on the trusted foundation of the ParaPro test, ParaPathways introduces refreshed content, enhanced features, and deeper insights — all aligned with today’s classroom demands.

The ParaPathways Assessment Exam is a computer-delivered test that consists of two separately timed subtests: Reading and Writing, and Mathematics, with a total number of 87 multiple-choice questions (51 for Reading and Writing, 36 for Mathematics).

In Minnesota a passing score of 322 for each subtest is required.

Exam Scheduling

  • Appointments are available morning and afternoon, Tuesday - Friday, at BrightWorks.
  • A computer with pre-loaded exam software is provided.
  • Test-takers receive their score immediately after taking the exam. Official confirmation of exam scores is sent directly to test takers approximately 6 weeks after the exam date.  
  • Re-testing is an option. However, there is a one-week waiting period for each subsequent retesting.

Cost

Both Subtests in One Appointment - $30 Appointment Deposit Only

Single Subtest Appointment - $20 Appointment Deposit Only.

Preparation

Exam preparation resources (including an interactive practice test) will be supplied free of charge with paid appointment deposit, through December 31, 2025.

Please note

An appointment for assessment must be scheduled in advance. A non-refundable appointment deposit of $20 for single subtests and $30 for appointments with both subtests is required when scheduling. This payment can be made through PayPal.


BrightWorks, through a joint venture with Educational Testing Service (ETS), is pleased to be named as an exam administration site for the ParaPathways Assessment. The ParaPathways Assessment has been approved for use in Minnesota as a way for current or aspiring paraprofessionals to demonstrate competencies in reading, math, and writing as required under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002.
