For Mentors

MN Educational ASL Interpreter Mentor Requirements

  • Must have completed an accredited Interpreter Training Program (ITP)
  • Must be certified with either National Association for the Deaf (NAD) IV or V, American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (ACCI), National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) per Minnesota statute.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience interpreting in an educational setting (pre-kindergarten through post-secondary education).
